Workshop on "Exploring Brain Development and Learning: Prenatal to 5 Years"


The Institute of Applied Psychology (IAP) collaborated in the Baby Matters Conference 2025, hosted by #babymatterspk – a groundbreaking initiative focused on infant and early childhood mental health in Pakistan by holding a full day workshop at the Institute of Applied Psychology, University of the Punjab, Lahore.
The workshop, titled “Exploring Brain Development and Learning: Prenatal to 5 Years,” brought together educators, parents, pediatric professionals, and curriculum developers to delve into the science of early brain development and its profound impact on lifelong learning and wellbeing.

The workshop was led by Ms. Dani Stamm Thomas, Early Learning Hub Director from Oregon, USA. With her extensive expertise in Child and Family Studies and Infant Mental Health, Ms. Stamm Thomas and Prof Dr Nadeem Bajwa a renowned psychiatrist engaged participants in strategies to recognize the importance of early years, promote brain development, and implement developmentally appropriate practices in educational and health settings.
Dr. Rafia Rafique, Director, IAP, concluded the session by highlighting the crucial role of mental health in the earliest years of life and emphasizing the need for collaborative, research-based efforts to support healthy development in young children.
